Sarah Kesselbrenner set a great example of what the senior-faculty partnership should be like. She took initiative to contact me regarding a concern she had for her peers. Nobody had to prompt her to do so and her actions were much appreciated.
I nominate Bailey Bloom for stepping up and partnering with faculty to resolve a difficult situation between two students. This is the type of example of how a student led school can operate. Her help was greatly appreciated and very effective.
A star of the week I would recommend is Noah Bell. He has stepped up in the MLK performances and in math he has actually been teaching the class while Mr. McGuire is helping other students, not to mention he has done a great job. He has shown a lot of courage and curiosity in the classroom and continues to help me grow as well.
Forrest Smith has found his niche in wrestling. As a young man who is short in stature, he is up against tremendous odds on the mat, especially in the heavyweight division. He is just over the weight limit for this class and so he may face opponents who are 50lbs heavier than him, yet he has not quit or allowed his fears to overcome his goals in the sport. He has modeled perseverance and toughness as well as being a major morale booster for the team. This past weekend, Forrest not only went 3-0 against Deerfield, Andover, and Bath, his pin verses Bath ensured our victory against our sister school. With 1 second left on the clock, Forrest stepped up to make a clutch pin and earned himself a star, and his team’s utmost respect. Well done!
I nominate Meara Palmer-Young, Ian Matthew Harrington and Heather Cavalli for taking their weekend and attending regional retreats to work with parents. Their work goes above and beyond and goes miles in getting parents to see how their own growth can inspire their children.
