Pomfret Academy - 10
Hyde School - 1

Dominated from start to finish, the Hyde Wolfpack fell to Route 169 rival Pomfret Academy 10-1 on a rainy day in Woodstock. Tenacious and hungry from the starting whistle, the Pomfret Griffins jumped out to a 5 goal lead in the first quarter. The one bright spot offensively for the lethargic Wolfpack was senior attackman Chris Velez, who dodged his defender from behind the crease and beat the goalie with a nifty shot for the Wolfpack’s only tally on the day.

Defensively, the Wolfpack really struggled in the first half. Hyde was tentative and often caught ball watching, which allowed the Griffins to set up point blank shots on sophomore goal tender Blake Smalldone. Standouts on the day included long-stick midfielder Adam Carreau ’11, who never backed down, and midfielder Jake Lifson’s ’10 tenacity on both ends of the field helped give a spark to the Wolfpack.

Standing at 8-5, the Wolfpack next take the field on Friday when they take on SENE opponent Williams at home at 4:15.
